Emails 2-25-08

The Mommy-We were able to use a members computer. We were over helping and they offered to let us use their computer for our help. Elder Gardner has been out for 1 year, he actually came out the same time as Elder Nash. At dinners I do say thank you, and I do try to help with the stacking up. Most of the time people tells us no, or tell us to go sit down when we start to clean up. I still try to do what I can though to make you proud and live up to my promise of helping clean up. Wow there are a lot of new babies in the ward. I did hear about Jessica's bridal shower from Brie and she said it was nice to see you and talk to you for a bit. I have not gotten an invitation yet, but I would not be suprised if I do get one. I got the package, thank you for the candy and for sending it back. I felt a little silly after I had just sent it to you. I did get my taxes sent off. As for what to do with that money, if you could put like 200 or so into my checking that would be nice other than that I do not really care what happens with it. Elder Gardner had never been to Mount Shasta before. Not many missionaries get the opportunity to come up and see it or be in the area. I could be driving if I called in, but since Elder Gardner is the senior he is suppose to drive and I do not really care until he almost kills us than I might decide to change it up. The area is still good, and I like it. I have been meeting more people, but definiatly not as many as when I first got here, but that can be expected. The baptism got moved back because they are sick and they have not been to church at least twice which is a requirement. Holidays do not affect my pday at all. In July I think is when President Perry gets released. The new mission President will be announced here shortly. I had no idea that there was an Earthquake. We did not feel anything, well that I can remember anyways. Wow houses in St. George are pricey. I am glad that Ryan was ordained, that is awesome. I am so happy for that kid and getting his life turned around. We only have about 8 inches of snow still on the ground around Mt. Shasta city, on the outskirts there can be up to 4 feet still though. Well thats about it for here in Mount Shasta. How are things going on there? Hopefully good. Well take care. Love you.-Elder Brickey

Hello-It is okay, I like short they are great. Well it sounds like things are going well for you back home, busy but good. It is crazy to think that Saedy is one and that Dallin is two. Man I am to young for this, just kidding. I was wondering when Dallin would start quoting movies, he is quite the movie buff. Yeah sweets are better and you can blame Shan she has a HUGE sweet tooth. Love you Shan, don't hurt me in other words. ;-) My car was posted on Craigslist and on Autotrader, I am not sure but I thought that they would have expired by now. I will see if I can find out. Most logins that I use will be mcclarinman, and if you need a password I can get that for you too. Transfers are like the 17th of March. I keep hearing that I am going to be kicked to the curb, but you never know. I still am enjoying the area and would not mind staying, but the Lord will put me where I need to be. I have not ran into many crazies lately, which has been nice. There are a ton of loonies it is funny. Wow Den leader over the Bears, that is cool. I will definiatly have Saedy in my thoughts on Friday, it is weird that she is one, it feels like just yesterday she was born. It sounds like Dallin is getting quite into the TERRIBLE of terrible twos, how fun for you both. But at least you have mom there to help, since he LOVES her to death. Well it sounds like things are going well for you both. Well take care and love you tons.-Elder Brickey

Emails 2-18-08

The Mommy-Well I am glad that things are going a little better for you back there. I heard about the weather conditions that you had there. The year that I am gone we get some sweet storms, oh well. Thank you for my pants, I am not in a huge hurry for them, but thanks though. Things have been warm and sunny here. The work has been going well and the new comp and I are doing pretty well. Well I hope you had a Happy Vday and thanks for the goodies. Love you tons.-Elder Brickey

To Curleys:
Hello and SO SORRY!
Last week I went to send your email and I got kicked off the computer,
we only get an hour. So I now get to redo all that I did. Anyways....
My name actually means battle warrior or something like that. I do fit
the round and lumpy though. Transfers were good, and my new companion
is good too. We have had a lot of sun the last two weeks or so. I am
glad to hear that the family is doing well. I can only imagine the
mischief that they will be in when I get home. Well I hope the best
for you guys with school and with having time to be together as a family. I
did get the package from the family and I appreciate it a lot, thank you.
The new comp is good, he has a few things that he does that bug, but
hey you work through it. My bike is still in mint condition, it only has
like 100 feet on it. Sorry this is short, but I am trying to get
everyone emailed. Things are going well, our baptism got pushed back, we are
not sure when yet though. Other than that things have been going
great.
WEll take care and thank you again. Love you.

emails 2/11/08

The Mommy-Elder Gardner was in my Zone so I actually know him, sorta. You really get to know someone when you live with them. It was a little strange to have Elder Nash gone, but at the same time it was good cause it is good to get change. Elder Gardner was just down in the Redding area so just an hour away and he is from Riverton, Utah. Yeah the box, uh lets see...The guns Elder Nash and I got from a member in the ward, he is 17 and went to BYU Idaho and gave them to us. Elder Nash did not want them so I got them and after being tempted to shoot each other to many times, I decided to get them away so no temptation. The tie is from Brother Lewis, he is the Ward Mission Leader, he gave us like 20 ties and I liked it, but cannot wear it on the mission. I will have to make a list of the pictures and who and what is on them and send it to you. Thank you for calling Brie and getting that to her, I really appreciate it cause it saves on postage. I know it does look like we are just playing, but that is when I can take pictures is when we play. I don't think it would be good to take pictures of teaching appointments and such. The weather has been nice and sunny for the past week, it has been a nice time to recoup from all the shoveling. Things are holding up pretty decent, I do have to admit that I forgot to grab my white pants out of my temple bag, for baptisms. OOPS :-) Grandma sent me a Valentines Day package and she told me about Uncle Bill and Aunt Burdene, that is awesome and good for them. Do the videos work? I did not think that they would, oh well. Yes that is me playing the piano, I found a simplified hymnbook and I can play quite well cause it is SUPER easy. My camera has a video camera on it, that is how I did the videos. Yeah Elder Nash is my "Father" and he trained and follow up trained me so it is just him. Yeah you are "born" to your trainer than you can have "kids" when you train. You are at mid-life at one year and than at 2 years we have a funeral cause they are "dead" now. It is a fun tradition. Well how are things going there? Things are going good here. We are getting a lot done and we will hopefully have another 2 or 3 baptism by the end of the transfer, which would be awsome. Well thank you for writing me and I hope that all is well. Take care and I love you tons.-Elder Brickey

Feb 4 2008 emails

Curley's-Well that is cool that you had church canceled, sorta. Bishop Taylor said that if he can make it to the Church so can everyone else, so he does not like to cancel is what I got out of that. Wow you have a ton of snow, I am so jealous. I go on my mission and we get a good year of snow, just my luck I guess. Well that is good though, the state can use the water. It is still snowing up here. The other day we had the opportunity to shovel 5 feet off one members house, than about 5.5 off another members house. We have been getting a little bit of snow. Yeah President Hinckley's funeral was beautiful. I was able to watch it over at the Bishop's house. President Monson seemed like he was ready to be Prophet, and he seems like he will do a wonderful job. Well Elder Nash is leaving me. He is going to Nevada City, it is by Yuba City and Tahoe. My new companion is Elder Gardner, he is also from Utah. Everything has been going really well out here. The work has been slowed by the weather, but we are getting a lot of service opportunities which is good. We don't do anything to our vehicles, they are all new enough that we just take them in and get everything done. Zone Conference is coming up, I just do not remember when. Well I am glad to hear that things are going well for you and that the family is doing well also. I hope that things keep going well for you. Take care of yourselves.-Elder Brickey

The Mommy-Yeah we have been getting slammed with snow. We have about 6 feet at our apartment. It snows than is sunny than snows some more. We just keep getting more and more. This has been the most snow that Mount Shasta has gotten in a LONG time is what I keep hearing. I never got sick though, which was nice. Elder Nash is actually leaving me, tomorrow. He is going to Nevada City, down by Yuba City and Tahoe and Reno. I was able to watch the Funeral at the Bishop's house. It was weird to think that I will never get to see him in General Conference anymore. It feels like I have lost a Grandpa or someone of great importance in my life. He has been my prophet. Baptized, confirmed, recieved the aaronic and mechezidek priesthood, mission call, and endowment all under him. President Monson though seems like he is ready to take over so that is good. Well I hope that things are going well for you at home. Things here have been crazy with all the snow and shoveling that we do. It seems like I have not taught anyone in forever. Well I hope that all is well and I will talk to you later. Love you tons.-Elder Brickey

1/28/08 Emails

The Mommy-I am sorry that you are not feeling well, Elder Nash was sick last Monday and that was no fun. Yeah President Hinckley just seemed to go out. I had not heard anything either about failing health or anything either. Well he is now resting and with his wife so that is good for him. Hmmm. I might just see if I can contact WaMu and see what the problem is. Hopefully I can get it figured out. Wow Stake people that sounds like loads of fun. I bet it was pretty intense and nerve racking. Well things have been pretty stormy here and I have been pretty wet and cold, but I get dry and get warm so that is good. The work has slowed down a little with the weather, but it has been good at the same time because we have done a lot of service for others. We still go and dig people out and it is a good excersize for me since I am getting a little on the "Round" side. The truck does help a lot in keeping us on the road and going. We have only had a couple close calls so that is good. Well thats about it for now. Take care and hope things are going well for you there. Love you.-Elder Brickey
Oh yeah I almost forgot. I am not sure where they are but I am in need of one of my Journals, I have almost filled this one up. Thanks love you.

Curleys-Wow it sounds like you have been having loads of fun with those kids of yours. I am glad to hear that people are healthy though that is always good. Things out here are good, we have been getting a lot of snow and rain which has been LOADS of fun. Transfers are on February 3rd so only a week left, crazy stuff. I have almost been out for two complete transfers. Dad and Scott those punks going and playing all the time. But I definiatly do not envy the work load that they have. That is sad that Shadow is having problems, she is not that old but she has done a lot of dumb things to herself when she was younger. Hopefully it is nothing big or expensive. If something happens to her I wonder how Grizz will do. Well thanks for the emails they are always nice to get. I hope things are still going well for you and take care of yourselves and your chillins. Love you.-Elder Brickey

emails 1-22-08

The Mommy-Last Monday we helped some people in the ward move and we got there at 10 am and did not get back to our apartment till 5pm and the library closes at 4 on Mondays, and opens at 1. The cake was pre-made and it came with dryice, which Elder Nash had fun with, to keep it cold. It was a Vanilla with some kind of berry jelly in the center. It was really good. I will probably wait a little bit before cooking the cake you sent, one because I am caked out right now and two I have to get a pan. Her cake was through some call in thing it was cool. Yeah the baptism was awesome. They had some family friends from Idaho and they baptized them and confirmed them. It was really special because they are like family and the guy who did it gave them beautiful blessings when they were confirmed. Wow Grandma and Grandpa met L. Tom Perry that is awesome. I hear that President Perry and him are a lot a like and President likes to joke around and is such an awesome Mission President. Wow you are sick too. My companion and almost all the Elders in my Zone are sick, but so far I am holding strong so that is nice. I guess I got dad's immunity to sicknesses, thank goodness. Well I hope that you all get feeling better and that things are going well for you. Things are going really well for us out here, other than the sicknesses. Well I will write again soon. Take care Love you.-Elder Brickey

Hello Family Curley-Yeah it was awesome to have the baptism and than to have the other two commit to baptism. I dont know if I answered moms question so let her know that they are waiting till March becaue it is one of their Birthday and it seemed to just be right. So we are just going to let them go with that. The weather has been sunny, a little cold but sunny. It is still no where near the fridged Utah cold though. I am sorry to hear that everyone is getting sick that sucks. Everyone in my Zone seems to be getting sick, but I am still holding strong, knock on wood. That is awesome that things are going well for Ryan with school and being able to still do stuff with the Family. Saedy is turning one, wow that is a weird thought. I am fine with them staying little they cant grow to fast on me. I did not know anything happen to Shadow, maybe dad wrote something in his Email. I am glad that she is doing better though. It is weird to think that they are almost 8-9 years old (?). Yeah I hear that those terrible twos are no fun. I did hear something though that could be interesting for you. It is a night time diaper. You put on a cloth diaper and then a dispossable diaper. I guess it keeps them drier so they sleep through the night or something like that. Yeah Elder Nash and I were going through our geneology the other day and it was fun to read the different stories it was cool. I know Shan is a speed deamon on that PAF stuff it is crazy. Wow a Fugal messing with Shawn that is not smart, Shawn will beat the crap out of you if you piss him off. Sounds like all kinds of fun for Nielsen Heating and I am not sorry to say I am glad that I dont have to deal with it. I would have liked to see it though or here Shawn's comments. California is crazy awesome, it is nothing like what you think, well in the North. I am inland and it is a lot like Salt Lake County and Utah County, oh and St. George. There are a lot of hippies but they dont like cold so they left, and the druggies are pretty thick. I bet that is more of a Southern thing though. I would not live here, it is beautiful and I like it, but it is WAY to expensive for my tastes. A house like mom and dads is going for $530,000 and that is "Cheap", yeah right. But it is awesome here deffiniatly somewhere to visit. I am glad to hear that the missionary work is picking up there it is so awesome to be apart of. Well I hope that you can help the guy before he leaves. Well take care of yourselves and stay out of trouble.Love you.-Elder Brickey

Emails from 1/15/08 and a letter

The Mommy-Thank you for the gifts I did recieve them on the 8th so that was nice. The day was kinda boring, I was in Zone Conference from 10 to 4 so that was fun. I did get sung to though. My shoes are doing okay, I have a few scuffs here and there but lasting. I did get my jacket fixed. A lady in the ward use to be head of the alterations for Men's Warehouse, so she did an amazing fix for me. Yeah there are a lot of interesting people up here and some pretty cool things. The history I guess you could say is quite diverse. Elder Nash had a pretty good bday. We actually baptized Jim and Wanda Linsley on his birthday so that was an awesome present. Another cool thing is that we both got birthday cakes, mine from Brie his from his family, and they are the SAME cake, so I guess great minds think alike. Well things are warming up a bit and there is not as much snow on the road, but there is still a lot of snow on the ground. People keep calling us asking if we can shovel things for them, we wish they would not have waited till it had melted and than froze and became hard, but hey it builds good muscles. Well the work is going great, I am getting into the swing of things which is good. We actually have two other people who are committed to baptism on March 1st so that is cool. Well that is about it for now. Take care. Love you.-Elder Brickey

Curley Family-Hey there. Things are going great out here. I was actually in Anderson, South of Redding so about 70 miles away, for my Birthday for Zone Conference. 10 am to 4 pm what a day! I did however get sung to and I did get to say the opening prayer as well. The Bishop and his family fed us that night for my birthday dinner which was awesome cause they made some good food for us. I wish that we had Scott's sleds that would be way awesome and probably make it so we would not do any work. Well I am glad to hear the family is doing well, except for the sickness anyways. I can only imagine how big they both will be when I see them next. Dad sent me an email and it sounded like quite the trip to wyoming, but I did not hear the Bruce almost wrecked the truck, that would have been kinda funny. Good heavens Zack sounds like he is getting into nothing but trouble. I wonder what is going to happen to him kinda, but he has made is own bed I guess. I hope that Grandpa can get whatever figured out so that he does not get the shaft on things, that would suck. Mom and dad are getting along and now sitting on the same couch, wow I am missing a lot of good stuff. It is okay hopefully when I get home they will maybe be holding hands or something like that. I am sending a package to Scott and in it will be a cd with a lot of pictures on it. We did have a baptism actually and we are going to be having another one, hopefully, on March 1st. That would make 4 people while I am here. Other than that I have just been working my tail off trying to make sure that I am doing what the Lord wants me to so I can help those around me. Well I hope things are still going well for you all. Take care of yourselves and stay outta trouble.-Elder Brickey

Letter:
January 10, 2008
Brickey Family-
Hello there family. I just thought I would write a little note to you all. Well I thank you all for the gifts. I am not quite sure who all sent me one so I will just give a broad thank you to you all. I just have one thing to say to you all too. You tease me about being "old" but remember you are all older than me ;p
On a different note. Things are going great out here. On January 12th at 1pm Jim & Wanda Linsley are getting baptized, & two other investigators, their names are Meg & Alison, commited to baptism on March 1st, so things are progressing nicely. It is cool the 12th is Elder Nash's birthday, & if I remember right March 1st is Steve's birthday, so that is pretty cool.
It is crazy to think that I am almost through my second transfer. Elder Nash thinks he will leave & I will stay. But you never know what will happen. Then end of the transfer is Feb 5, so it is still a ways off.
Well I am eventually going to send a box home, when I get to it I don't know. It will have stuff that I don't need right now, or never going to need on the mission.
Well, uh, thats about all I can think of right now. Thanks again & keep me posted on how things are going. Love you all.
-Elder Brickey
